2016 results: Meat exports from Ukraine increased by 23%



Export of all kinds of meat and by-products from Ukraine in 2016 increased by 23% compared to the previous year, reaching 285.95 thousand tons. This amount is also 37% higher than the volume of meat exports from Ukraine in 2014.

This was reported by the Analytical Department of Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB) with the reference to the original data of the State Fiscal Service.

Major exports are still provided by poultry meat - 84%, or 240.2 thousand tons, which is 49% more than in 2015, and 37% more than in 2014. The main revenues from sales of this type of products came to Ukraine from Iraq (US $ 78.4 million, or 26.8%), Egypt (US $ 36.1 million, or 12.4%) and the Netherlands (US $ 32.7 million, or 11.2%).

The volume of exports of fresh, chilled and frozen meat of cattle from Ukraine amounted to 35,1 thousand tons in 2016, exceeding the amounts of 2015 and 2014 by 9% and 63%, respectively. The largest buyer of fresh and chilled beef in the past year was Belarus (US $ 36.2 million, or 99%.), frozen - Kazakhstan (US $ 11.3 million, or 24.4%), Azerbaijan (US $ 10 million., or 21.7%) and Belarus (US $ 8.9 million., or 19.2%)

There was the dramatic drop in pork exports. In 2016 this figure amounted to 3.7 thousand tons compared to 27.2 thousand tons in 2015 and 9.4 thousand tons in 2014. TOP-3 Ukrainian pork buyers are Georgia (US $ 2.6 million, or 50.2%.), Armenia (US $ 0.9 million, or 18.2%.) and Hong Kong (US $ 0.8 million. or 15.7%).
